Neelum Valley road journey

AJK riverside corridor when you want mountain scenery without Gilgit logistics.

• Duration: 3–4 days
• Best season: April–October; confirm Line of Control travel advice
• Vehicle: Ordinary car on the main Neelum road in fair weather
• Family: Suitable with conservative driving and no night mountain driving
• Adventure: Road journey; side waterfalls are short walks

Rough budget: Keran / Sharda lodging — confirm locally

Weather buffer: If the upper road is slow, turn at Keran rather than forcing Kel

1. Day 1 — Islamabad to Neelum

   Muzaffarabad then the Neelum road. Overnight at Keran or Sharda.

   Overnight: Keran or Sharda · Riverside road; landslide delays possible

   • Neelum Valley · Azad Kashmir

2. Day 2 — Upper valley or a waterfall spur

   One add-on only. Return to the same base.

   Overnight: Same as night 1 · Do not stack Gilgit-scale mileage

   • Neelum Valley · Azad Kashmir

3. Return

   Leave with daylight for Islamabad.

   Overnight: Islamabad · Same corridor south
