Green Swat and Kalam route
Mingora to Kalam with an optional Upper Dir / Kumrat add-on — two districts, not one label.
- Origin: Islamabad
- Duration: 3–5 days
- Best season: May–October; monsoon needs flexibility
- Vehicle: Ordinary car to Kalam in fair weather; jeep for Mahodand and Kumrat spurs
- Family: Main corridor is family-friendly; jeep lakes are a separate decision
- Adventure: Forest jeep days, not high-altitude treks
Rough budget: Kalam lodging is easy to overpay in peak weeks — confirm locally
Weather buffer: If Mahodand is closed, stay on the Ushu / Kalam valley floor
Day 1 — Islamabad to Kalam
Swat Motorway to Mingora, then the valley road. Overnight in Kalam, not a same-day lake.
- Kalam Valley · Swat
- Saidu Sharif (optional) · Swat
Day 2 — Upper-valley outing
Mahodand or a forest walk. Turn around with daylight.
- Mahodand Lake · Swat
- Ushu Forest (optional) · Swat
Optional — Kumrat / Upper Dir
Only if you have extra days. Kumrat is Upper Dir, not a Kalam suburb.
- Kumrat Valley (optional) · Upper Dir
- Jahaz Banda Falls (optional) · Upper Dir
