Palas is not a casual add-on to a KKH drive. Lower sections may be jeep-reachable when tracks are open; upper meadows are hike-in country with a local guide. There is effectively no tourist lodging - camping is the plan, not a backup.

Some pastures involve ongoing local land-access sensitivities, so wandering off agreed routes is a bad idea. Come for wildlife and forest, leave with respect for how little infrastructure exists here.

    Photography of villages and residents, especially women, is a serious local sensitivity. Always ask permission and default to not photographing people. Some pastures are subject to ongoing disputes between local communities - avoid wandering off marked routes without a local guide.
