The story
Lower Kachura sits a short drive from Skardu and is widely known by the Shangrila resort framing on the shoreline. It is one of the more facility-rich lake visits in Baltistan - still mountain weather, but less remote than glacier approaches. Pair with Upper Kachura for a quieter shoreline walk, or use Skardu as a base for Shigar and Kharmang day trips. Prefer flying into Skardu when weather allows; road journeys from Islamabad are long.
