Ready-made routes

4–6 days in Hunza

Fly or take the long KKH to Gilgit, then a gentle Hunza base with forts, Attabad, and one upper-valley day.

  • Origin: Islamabad
  • Duration: 4–6 days
  • Best season: April–October; winter is a different plan
  • Vehicle: Ordinary car on the KKH in Hunza; jeeps only for side valleys
  • Family: Good with a Karimabad or Attabad base and no glacier travel
  • Adventure: Keep Passu walks on village paths; glaciers are not casual

Rough budget: Lodging ranges widely — confirm in Karimabad / Aliabad; no invented totals

Weather buffer: If the flight cancels, spend the extra day in Gilgit town stops rather than forcing Hunza the same night

  1. Travel day — Islamabad to Gilgit / Hunza

Flight when it operates, or a KKH drive with an overnight. Do not treat this as a sightseeing day.

Overnight: Gilgit or Karimabad · KKH via Chilas; Babusar is seasonal

  2. Karimabad and forts

Baltit / Altit and a village walk. Add Ganish or Haldeikish if energy remains.

Overnight: Karimabad · Short valley hops

  3. Attabad and one upper-valley window

Lake time, then Passu cones from the highway or village walks — not glacier travel.

Overnight: Karimabad, Gulmit, or Passu · KKH through the tunnels

  4. Buffer / return

Keep a weather-buffer day before the flight or the long drive south.

Overnight: Gilgit or Islamabad · Do not add Khunjerab unless you already have extra days and papers
